Her most influential recent works include Jimmy P. which premiered in the main competition at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, What Maisie Knew, Your Sister’s Sister, The Wrestler, and The Squid and the Whale.  She achieved international recognition for her work on the 2010 Academy Award nominated film Black Swan.

Of the award Roth said: “It is truly extraordinary to be recognized by France for my producing work. This is indeed one of the most exciting things ever to happen to me.”

The French Ambassador to the UAE, His Excellency Michel Miraillet, said that he admires Jennifer Roth’s work for “all these collaborations with French filmmakers which contributed to maintain a fruitful French-American relationship for the satisfaction of all.”

He recognized “her entire professional career, her involvement to promote cinema, her production of French and American films on the international scene, but also her enthusiastic Francophilia and all these bonds of friendship that link her to [France]”.

After receiving her BA and MA from New York University, Roth went on to enter a three-year term at NYU Abu Dhabi as a Senior Lecturer and Capstone Advisor in the university’s dynamic film department. From this position, she inspired students to pursue their passion in filmmaking and to further develop their skills for entry into the industry, encouraging them to seek opportunities across a wide range of roles and responsibilities in local, regional and international cinema.

The Order of Arts and Letters (l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) was established in 1957 to recognize eminent artists and writers, as well as people who have contributed significantly to furthering the arts in France and throughout the world. The prestigious award has previously been given to influential figures in film including Cate Blanchett, George Clooney, and Marion Cotillard.
