Topical Issues of Russian-Qatari Cooperation Discussed in Moscow
A meeting between Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the Russian President, and HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Qatar, took place in Moscow.
The issues of political and trade-economic interaction between two countries, as well as cooperation in the energy and cultural spheres were discussed during the meeting.
The meeting’s agenda also included the interaction between Russia and Qatar at the forum track. Qatar will participate in SPIEF 2020 as a guest country.
The participation of a highlevel Qatari delegation in the Forum was discussed, as well as the construction of a largescale national pavilion of Qatar at the Forum’s venue. “Qatar’s participation in SPIEF will lay a foundation for further cooperation between our countries.
There are many areas of mutual interest that require work, so that our political agreements are translated into practice,” noted Anton Kobyakov. “Qatar highly appreciates the initiative by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to invite Qatar to SPIEF as a guest country.
We have prepared an eventful programme as part of the Forum, and we hope to hold a successful Forum together with our Russian colleagues. We also see a strong potential for cooperation between our countries in such areas as industry, technology, innovation, agriculture, and food security,” said HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.
Meeting participants discussed interaction formats for implementing priority investment projects. From the Russian side, it will be operated by the Roscongress Foundation as a socially oriented non-financial development institution that has the ecosystem necessary to support business initiatives. From the Qatari side, the project will be coordinated by the Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar. The work will continue the cooperation and implementation of agreements between Russia and Qatar reached at SPIEF and will help boost trade-economic cooperation and mutual investment.
In conclusion of the meeting, Anton Kobyakov invited Mr Al Kuwari to visit the Russia
House in Davos, the official Russian residence during the World Economic Forum on 20–
24 January 2020.
