Veteran Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh has been shot and killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank, as reported by Aljazeera channel.
The 51-year-old was covering an Israeli army raid on the Jenin refugee camp when she was shot in the face by a single bullet, despite wearing a press vest
Another Palestinian journalist, Ali al-Samoudi, was wounded in the back but is in stable condition.
Al Jazeera, in a statement, said Abu Akleh was “assassinated in cold blood†and called on the international community to hold Israeli forces responsible
Shireen Abu Akleh was born on January 3, 1971 in Jerusalem. She graduated from the Rosary Sisters School in Beit Hanina in Jerusalem, and is from Bethlehem. She initially studied architecture at the University of Science and Technology in Jordan, then moved to the written journalism specialization, and obtained a bachelor’s degree from Yarmouk University in Jordan.
After her graduation, she returned to Palestine and worked for several sites such as UNRWA, Voice of Palestine Radio, Amman  Channel, then Miftah Foundation, and Radio Monte Carlo. Later, she moved to work in 1997 with Al-Jazeera channel.Â
