As important as entrepreneurs are for strengthening our economy and driving innovations that improve our daily lives, it is essential that we support new and young firms at every turn. Global Entrepreneurship Week/Palestine, which will be held this November 18- 24, 2013, will help us do just that by acting as a vehicle through which existing leaders and organisations promoting entrepreneurship can reach new audiences and encourage young people to unleash their ideas.
Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is the world’s largest celebration of innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and improve human welfare. Each November, nearly 10 million people in 130 countries participate in more than 35,000 activities, events and competitions designed to link entrepreneurs with potential collaborators, mentors and investors.
This is only the beginning and there is much potential for us to work together to shape the next generation of Palestine’s entrepreneurs.
Although some organisations might occasionally compete for resources and ideas throughout the year, GEW provides a collaborative platform for us all to convey a common message to the nation and our leaders—while leveraging our collective strength. By collectively steering Palestine’s annual entrepreneurship campaign, each of our individual organisations can benefit from increased awareness and education while avoiding the pitfalls associated with ‘overlap’ and ‘event fatigue’.
To date, over 40 of the leading entrepreneurial support organisations have agreed to join GEW/Palestine—committing to hosting at least one activity during the week. To learn more, visit ps.unleashingideas.org, like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/GEWPalestine and follow us on Twitter @GEWPalestine.
GEW/Palestine will be co-ordinated by Palestine for a New Beginning, current Host of GEW in Palestine.
