Danish business delegation to Jordan with the focus on serving refugees

16 Danish companies and organisations are visiting Jordan from 29th of May – 2nd of June with a specific focus on the refugee segment and humanitarian solutions. Organisors are Confederation of Danish Industry, Access2Innovation and The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

More than 650.000 UN registered Syrian refugees live in Jordan and many more across the region.  Danish companies offer solutions within areas such as water, energy, sanitation, logistics and housing that can create value in refugee camps andhost communities, enhancing commercial ties between Jordan and DenmarkWith this in mind, 12 companies, two universities and one NGO from Denmark will visit Jordan in one week’s time to learn more about the opportunities on the Jordanian market, with particular focus on the refugee segment and humanitarian relief market.

The participating companies represent sectors spanning from healthcare and IT/connectivity on to shelter provision and utility management such as water provision, renewable energy and pump technology. The group includes small and medium sized companies as well as larger Danish companies such as Grundfos, Vestas, Buk-Auto and Rockwool.

The program will take the delegation to Mafraq and Zatari Camp as well as a local Community Centre in Amman.It will also include meetings and panel debates with relevant UN bodies such as UNHCR and UNICEF and other important actors such as theWorld Bank, , IFC,European Bank for Reconstruction and Development,Danish Refugee Council and Norwegian Refugee Council.

Jordan as a market is also a cross-cutting theme.The delegation will meet the Hon. Minister for Trade, Industry and Supply, Mrs. Ali, as well as discuss the Jordanian business climate with JCI Director General, Dr. Maher Al-Mahrouq.The Honorary Consul, HE Rudain Kawar will ensure that the right Jordanian companies are introduced to the delegation.

Finally, the delegation focuses on fostering creative and innovative thinking in terms of partnerships and business models. The delegation will participate in an interactive workshop with NGOs, universities and other stakeholders to discuss and challenge ideas of collaborating to find innovative and sustainable solutions for the global refugee segment and host communities.

We are confident that this delegation will strengthen the Jordan – Danish commercial ties to the benefit of both our countries.
