Hawkamah; the building of investors confidence through Governance
Hawkamah, the Institute for Corporate Governance, will explore how investing in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) enables investors’ confidence and unlocks sustainable long-term growth and benefits for companies, during its annual conference on November 15, 2022. The conference will be held virtually, and in person at Dusit Thani Hotel (Dubai, UAE).
The conference’s first panel discussion will cover the latest trends in ESG expectations and requirements for companies as led by regulators worldwide. The second panel will investigate the priorities that investors are placing on companies around issues related to ESG, highlighting how the investment community is driving the current ESG momentum. The conference will finally conclude with a session on how boards are best responding to these diverse range of ESG issues, standards, and regulations confronting their companies.
HE Dr. Ahmed Hasan Bin Al Shaikh, Chairman of the Hawkamah Board, said: “The conference constitutes a call for action for leaders to integrate ESG matters into their organizations’ strategies and operations. This is crucial at a time where corporate sustainability is at an inflection point and responsible investing continues to gain prominence amongst different asset class managers. ESG investment decisions will not only impact a company’s medium to long-term financial performance and value, but it will undermine or drive the region’s competitiveness.â€
The conference will feature several regional and internationally renowned speakers including HE Dr. Maryam Al Suwaidi, CEO of the UAE Securities and Commodities Authority; HE Dr. Mohamed Farid, Chairman of the Federation of Euro-Asian Stock Exchanges (EFSA); George Dallas, Policy Director at the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN); and Stephen Davis, member of the Hawkamah Advisory Board, who will be reinforcing the importance of investors confidence and their expectations and interactions with boards on ESG matters.
The conference is expected to attract governance practitioners, owners, board members, board secretaries, CEOs, CFOs and CROs, regulators, thought leaders, academics and members of the media from across the region and the world.
