Lake Geneva in Lausanne, Illuminates with Exciting Activities this Summer

Lake Geneva, one of the most unique and spectacular stretch of vibrant water that has inspired many artists and celebrities, such as Coco Chanel, Freddie Mercury and more, lies along the city of Lausanne. This romantic scenery has a picturesque setting of the lake and the snow-coated Alps on the other side which never ceases to captivate locals and tourists.

The lake, with his clean water, offers an abundance of bespoke activities to choose from. Visitors can enjoy a romantic ride for two on a pedalo, kayaking, stand up paddles, water-bikes, or hire a boat for an exhilarating sightseeing experience with friends or family. Those seeking for a more relaxing vibe can lounge or sunbathe on the deck, snooze under the parasol, take a swim on the largest body of freshwater in western Europe.

Lausanne encompasses several districts with outdoor pools, including Bellerive-Plage, the jewel among the open-air pools since 1937. Its ideal location by the lake, its private beach and its three large pools attracts up to 8,000 people on the hottest days. It is the ultimate meeting place for families, the young and the not-so-young.

With summer approaching fast, the beach is the ideal destination for most guests. Equipped with a range of amenities, family and friends can enjoy a range of entertainment from artistic to adventurous, guaranteeing a great and distinct experience for everyone. The beach also features a variety of gastronomic delights to indulge in offering fresh caught fillets of perch, fera, pike and char, fresh quality food that the lake can offer. Among the trendiest summer bars are ‘La Jetée de de la Compagnie’ and ‘Minimum’ which are home to unique dynamics of cocktails and beverages.

Lake Geneva is also home to international water-sport competitions, one of which is regatta which attracts top sailing teams from across the world. Throughout the year, Lausanne hosts numerous regatta events including the ‘Lake Geneva 5-day race’ representing Europe’s longest lake-bound endurance race, which is held during the month of August, followed by Translémanique, a solo race across Lake Geneva, staged three weeks later. Another annual event on Lake Geneva is the world’s longest rowing contest of 160 km which is organized by the Société Nautique de Genève.

Visitors can also cycle around Lake Geneva in the Cyclotour du Léman (180 km), for casual, family-friendly rider to high profile races for expert bikers.
