Best workplaces in UAE announced in 2014 list

A ceremony took place at The H Hotel, Dubai on Feb 15th announcing “Great Places to Work” in the United Arab Emirates. Great Place to Work® Institute is part of a global research, training and consultancy firm that recognises the best workplaces in over 45 countries worldwide announced its fourth annual list of the ‘Top 15 Companies to Work for in the UAE’. Appearing at the top of the list in 2014 is DHL: having ranked in fifth place last year, DHL invested obvious efforts into developing the firm’s human capital. Previous winner Microsoft Gulf achieved second place this year, followed by Omnicom Media Group, advancing four places from its 2013 spot. Ericsson moved up two places to claim fourth place, while THE One, the top local company, rounded out the top five. Other employers in the top ten were FedEx Express, Marriott, Bayt, Weber Shandwick and EMC respectively. The final five positions on the list are Emirates Transport, Fun City, Hyatt, Estee Lauder and Mondelez. This study measures the level of credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie within an organisation. Most of a company’s score (two-thirds) is based on the confidential feedback of their staff, with an audit of management and HR practices by the Institute comprising the remainder of the score. As announced by GPTW, commenting on the Top Companies lists, Dr. Michael Burchell (Vice President of International Operations at GPTW and Partner & Director of GPTW Gulf) said: “We would like to thank all the participants in this year’s program and commend you on the significant improvement you’ve made in developing high trust workplaces. Our global proprietary trust measurement tool (the Trust Index®) shows the UAE now ranks near the top globally, scoring above 88%. Four years ago the average trust level for the country’s top companies was much less than that. We applaud your efforts and commitment to enhancing the workplace experience, which is a proven factor in sustaining economic prosperity.”
